This is an opportunity to stay at a historic location with salmon fishing on the doorstep. Please contact Featherstone Castle for details of the new holiday cottage accommodation. Another accommodation with 2 house rods is at Wydon Farm Haltwhistle and one house rod is available at Bridge End house which is bookable through Pennine Ways. Other accommodation without fishing rights is available in Haltwhistle.

Changes To Catch Limits

It was decided at our AGM that to conserve salmon stocks all hen salmon should be returned in 2025. Our catch limits on salmon will also be reduced to one fish on any one day and 5 per season. These rules will be reviewed if stocks recover sufficiently. The limits on sea-trout are not affected but please be aware that sea-trout numbers were well down in 2024 so please think carefully before killing any fish.

New Fishing

I am happy to announce that we have again secured some more fishing for our members for the 2025 season. The previously private stretch in front of Featherstone Castle is now available for our members to fish and of course Haltwhistle & District AA rules will apply. Featherstone Castle will have two house rods which will be able to fish all H&DAA waters. Please continue to give help and advice to visiting anglers, our club has a great reputation for being friendly and welcoming. A big thanks to our club members who have worked on access to our beats during the winter. The lane which gives access to ‘The Cages’ has been cleared of fallen branches and work will continue on the surface of the lane which is still uneven but drivable with care. The bottom beat at Bardon Mill has also had a lot of branch cutting work done to improve access.
